On the weekend of June 4-5, 2022, Podengo Friends’ very first summer event was organized, a 2-day event for podengo friends. It was a small dream we had ever since we started Podengo Friends Sweden, but as they sometimes say, life got in the way, with, among other things, my wife’s illness. However, with the help of our friends in the Podengo Friends Team, and everyone else who helped, we were able to pull off the event in the end.
We chose Gålö Havsbad, a nature reserve beautifully located by the sea, with nice cabins and camping, nice walking paths, large lovely grassy areas to have activities on without disturbing others, premises where we could prepare both lunch and dinner as well as hold a lecture, and so on.
So, on August 8, 2020, we posted an invitation in the Facebook group to the Podengo Friends Summer Event at Gålö, and only a couple of days later all 50 places were booked. So fun! However, due to the pandemic, we had to move the event forward a year, but in 2022 it was a lovely weekend in true podengo spirit, friendship and joy.
Because the event became so popular, we have continued to organize a two-day summer event every year, however, we decided to have slightly fewer participants in order to have time to take care of, and talk to, everyone. In 2023 we were back at Gålö havsbad, in 2024 it was a nice manor weekend at Gysinge up in Sandviken, and in 2025 an active weekend at Vilsta sporthotell & camping.
